An intimate portrait of Just Stop Oil protestors asks what it really costs to take a stand in a supposedly democratic society. We, The Hated tells the inside story of how a group of everyday concerned citizens hatch a contentious plan of civil disobedience to wake the country up to the climate emergency... and what the government does to shut them down. As irreversible climate tipping points loom and their controversial protests face mounting repression, four activists - Indigo, Mark, Phoebe, and Jane - grapple with the personal cost of action against the existential stakes of inaction.
