GG Hounslow x Let's Lift the Curfew: Working on the Abundance London garden

Let's Lift the Curfew 2026: join us for a special session Tonight we're joining forces with This Girl Can and their Let's Lift the Curfew campaign. When the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, millions of women across the UK will once again see their world get smaller as the nights get darker. Safety concerns affect where they go, when they go, who they go with and whether they can be active outdoors at all. Whether shaped by past experiences, stories they've heard, or not feeling comfortable or confident in a particular place after dark, many women are unable to be active outdoors or use public spaces in the same way that men do. In fact, nearly three-quarters (72%) of women in the UK change their outdoor activity routines during winter. Let's Lift the Curfew challenges this reality to ensure no woman has to change where, when or how she gets active because of safety concerns. You can read about, and complete, GoodGym's own training on this issue here. We never leave anyone behind and always have a back-marker. About this session Want to do something useful with your weekly exercise? GoodGym Hounslow is a group of local residents who get fit by doing good. This week, we are heading over to Chiswick High Road to support the fantastic local charity Abundance London! Abundance London does amazing work transforming neglected urban spaces into beautiful, biodiversity-rich pocket gardens and orchards. By turning concrete corners into vibrant green spaces, they help improve local air quality, create vital habitats for wildlife, and significantly boost the mental health and well-being of everyone living in and walking through our community. We will be helping them weed, prune, and tidy up their main street planter beds to keep the High Road looking healthy and beautiful for everyone! ๐Ÿšป Toilets and changing rooms are available at the start inside Chiswick Town Hall. ๐ŸŽ’ Please note there is no secure storage space for bags, so please only bring what you can comfortably run with! The Plan 6:30 PM: Meet at Chiswick Town Hall for a quick briefing and a fun, dynamic warm-up. 6:40 PM: Run, walk, or cycle together as a group to the beds on Chiswick High Road. 6:50 PM: Smash a 40-minute physical task weeding, clearing dead growth, and tidying the planters. 7:30 PM: Head back towards the Town Hall with a short fitness session along the way. 7:50 PM: Arrive back for a thorough cool-down stretch. 8:00 PM: Session wraps up. ๐Ÿป Social Afterwards! Once we are all stretched out, we will be heading over to a local pub for a social drink, food and a chat. Everyone is very welcome to join us, whether it is your 1st session or your 1000th! What to bring ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Comfortable running shoes and exercise clothing. ๐Ÿงค A pair of gardening or work gloves. ๐Ÿ”ฆ A headlamp or high-vis gear, as the evening will get dark while we are working.
