Audiences are invited to experience the sights and sounds of Spain through a vibrant musical journey with Stephen Bell and the Hallé Orchestra. Designed to transport listeners far from damp, grey England, the programme captures the warmth and energy of Andalusia, opening with Chabrier's fiery España and Turina's lyrical Serenata , evoking the atmosphere of sun-soaked landscapes and fleeting holiday romance. The concert also travels back in time with Massenet's ballet music from Le Cid , inspired by three distinctive regions of 12th-century Spain. Adding further depth and colour, guitarist Gabriel Bianco performs Rodrigo's celebrated Concierto de Aranjuez , a piece that conjures the sensory beauty of 16th-century palace gardens, filled with magnolia scents...
